JADE MINGUS and ERIN COKER AUSTIN – Businesses are revving up before South by Southwest crowds race into town.
They're hiring staff, extending hours, and preparing for an onslaught of customers.
Swift's Attic says customers from across the country get a taste of Austin during the festival.
"It's kind of great to have people come in town from New York and say, 'I've heard about you guys and we stopped in,'" said Swift's Attic partner CK Chin.
Last year SXSW generated $218 million for the Austin economy.
Hotel bookings were up 10 percent last year compared to 2012. The average cost of a hotel room during the festival last year was $255.
